What we manufacture
The catalogue covers the tooling a metalworking shop consumes every day. Each family links to a page with real specifications, geometry options and application notes.
Why buying tool and holder together matters
Most reported tool failures are not tool failures. A cutter that chips or wears unevenly is frequently running out of true because of the holder, the collet or a worn chuck, so the tool is replaced repeatedly while the real cause stays in the machine.
Manufacturing the tool, the holder and the gripping system together means the interface tolerances are verified as a set. We can state the runout of an assembled tool and holder, not just of the tool on its own, which is the number that governs tool life and surface finish.
Materials we cut
Tool selection starts with the workpiece, not the tool. The substrate, coating and geometry are chosen from the material's hardness, machinability and tendency to work-harden or gall.
OEM and ODM production
A large part of our output is produced under our customers' own brands. Tools are ground to your drawing, marked with your logo, packed in your packaging and shipped without our branding anywhere on the product or the documents.
We do not approach your customers and we do not list your geometry as our own. Confidentiality terms are a standard step rather than something you have to negotiate.
How an enquiry runs
Standard items are quoted from the catalogue. Custom geometry, special dimensions and OEM tooling go through a short engineering conversation first, because a cutting tool that is defined wrongly is expensive to discover at the machine.
| Step | What happens | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | You send the operation, the workpiece material and the machine interface | - |
| 2 | We confirm geometry, substrate and coating, and raise anything the drawing does not cover | Same or next working day |
| 3 | Catalogue items are quoted immediately; custom tools are quoted with a drawing for approval | 1-2 working days |
| 4 | You approve the drawing and the geometry revision is frozen | - |
| 5 | Production, coating and inspection | 3-5 working days in stock, 15-25 working days custom |
| 6 | DDP delivery with inspection records and, for OEM, your branding and packaging | 3-8 working days transit |
Frequently asked questions
What does Precimill manufacture?
Solid carbide and indexable cutting tools for metalworking: drills, end mills, turning inserts, taps, boring systems, tool holders, collets and workholding. Both catalogue geometries and custom tools made to drawing, including OEM production under a customer's own brand.
Do you make custom cutting tools to drawing?
Yes. Send the operation, the workpiece material, the machine interface and any existing drawing or sample. We confirm the geometry and substrate, produce a drawing for your approval, and manufacture to the approved revision. Custom tooling typically takes fifteen to twenty-five working days.
Can you supply tools under our own brand?
Yes, this is routine OEM and ODM work. Tools are produced to your drawing, marked or laser-etched with your branding, and packed in your packaging. Nothing identifying Precimill appears on the product or in the shipment documents.
Which countries do you ship to?
We ship DDP to Europe and North America, which means freight, import duty and taxes are handled on our side and the tools arrive at your address. For other destinations we quote FOB or EXW and can arrange freight on request.
What is the minimum order quantity?
There is no minimum on catalogue items, because they are held in stock. Custom geometries and OEM tooling start at fifty pieces per geometry, since the grinding set-up has to be amortised across the batch.
How do I choose the right geometry and coating?
Tell us the workpiece material, its hardness or condition, the operation and whether coolant is used. We will recommend a substrate, coating and geometry, and explain the trade-off. Where it matters we can run a comparative cutting trial against the tool you are using now.
